Good point. I really look forward to the (and wish I had the website management skills to) develop the contract section of this Association. I think reputation will mean a lot to members, and having a robust way of distinguishing those who honour their agreements will further promote that - I suppose that's where I see a DNS list working best.

Some interesting takes on this, I can see where Mr Roman is coming from.
As already mentioned I also question whether DNS is the right term here.
Our ilk (Gatherers, Crafters & Merchants) are most likely going to be primarily ill equipped to handle 1 vs 1 dules let alone mass battles. We will have to see how the skill system pans out with regards to how well we can defend ourselves.
Our job though quite rightly stated will be to provide the equipment for others to have their battles / wars etc.
On personal experiences, I originally said I won't deal with people who kill me unless they have a valid reason. Maybe not such a wise business move unless I really build up a good customer base and can live on their income.
I guess if I am playing a true neutral character I would have to deal with all regardless of what they do to me. Alternatively I could play a true neutral member of my race in which case I won't deal with my enemies. Hmmm, a lot to think about regarding the type of character one wants to be as to who you deal with and who you don't.
Maybe as Mr Roman suggested (well not quite in the following wording) we as individuals should probably sell to everyone depending on our allignment in game but have a % increase on costs to those we don't like.
The other issue is if we have NPC vendors we have to my knowledge no way of stopping anyone from buying from them.
I've started babbling, I am convinced though now that a DNS is going to be hard to manage for one clan let alone a whole server or the whole game.

The other issue is if we have NPC vendors we have to my knowledge no way of stopping anyone from buying from them. I am almost sure that for NPC trade they will complex order system of customization. I am almost sure they will have some boxes that you tick for allignments and races to trade with. But of course NPC's are not the point of this discussion, yet I will not intrude onthe discussion of the percentages since as a mercenary and a DMA member (I am honest too *winks*) I think I am rather safe of different fluctuations or changes or whatever. I'm sure there'll be crafters here who wish to look after you, Archmage, should your clan not be able to make something for you! Lady Si'aan Anoura.

On that note, if the DMA website admin has plans to include a contract form, I suggest using something similar to what many guilds use for their petitioner applications ( see here for an example). Create one for crafting needs and one for mercenary needs. Include sections like, "When would you like to receive your protection/goods by", "Are there any races/characters that you are not willing to deal with?", "Around how much are you looking to spend?", "What timezone do you usually play in?" etc. Then have the forms automatically post in a special "For hire" forum, where members of the DMA community may browse for potential customers. Once again, if you'd need a hand setting up something like this, just ask .

Yes, indeed - Botters, Goldfarmers and cheaters of all types who exploit the system for radically unfair advantage will be on my KOS & DNS lists as well.. Hmm, well maybe I'd sell to them and then kill them Whatever can do them most damage for I certainly don't want to see such people ruin or take over the game in ways we've seen them do in other games. Luckily we have the opportunity to kill and loot them any time we can in DF so (hopefully) it shouldn't be so much of a problem and they'll move on to other, less hardcore games. *fingers crossed*

just do what i do and mark up the prices a few hundred percent to people you dont trust/know/like. If there is a DNS list there is nothing at all that says you have to abide by it.
Someone has to supply the arsehats with stuff or sooner or later what they have will degrade and become broken. Personially id rather that be me or someone i know that makes the few extra coin of them.
Ya know.. why let a random make 1000 gold for a full suit of whatever when i or someone i know can.

.. why let a random make 1000 gold for a full suit of whatever when i or someone i know can. ...Which I think was more to Ztyx point way back in this thread. A DNS list does mean you're turning away business, and its hard to draw a line as to when you really should turn away business... On that note, if the DMA website admin has plans to include a contract form, I suggest using something similar to what many guilds use for their petitioner applications ( see here for an example). Create one for crafting needs and one for mercenary needs. Once again, if you'd need a hand setting up something like this, just ask . I think that sounds really good! I think there will need to be a 'few' templates for the different contract needs (offering a contract, agreeing on a deal, etc). If you would like to help set it up, I'm sure you could contact Recneps about it. I know he's been snowed under for time lately, and would probably appreciate the help! If I can help with it at all, let me know!

I am pressed with time constraints right now, but if something is needed I could definitely help.
