Ive been discussing this with a good friend and we have talked about how to drum up business, get work, make money crafting ect ect. One thing we have been talking about recently is taking on dedicated PvPers as "associates". Meaning we will do all we can to keep them equipped in the best gear possible in return for a steady flow of harvested resources. The idea behind this is, if the players around us are well armed and armored, it makes the whole region safer for us as crafters, who will have to leave town at some point. If by arming our friends and neighbors well, for low costs, we deterr outside PKing and ganking.
Discuss.

...Enter the role of mercenaries! As I have stated previously, I would like to see a template and section for forging contracts on this site (or the new site when it is ready). I am sure that crafters could strike deals with several mercenaries or merc clans with some agreed payment. ...This kind of deal would work for me anyhow!

Yes, good idea Si'aan.
Perhaps we could come up with a contract template that such interested parties can use and sign between themselves for such hiring..
Something that details the job required, length of job & payment and provides clauses for exceptions, problems etc as well?
That would certainly seem to make things clean and simple.. and if anyone breaks such an 'association contract' they'd have to be some form of retirbution from the assoc. perhaps.

I would like to see such a discussion to nut out the details of how a contract would work! Perhaps a system of reputation can be attached to members after contracts are completed or broken?

How about a "Do Not Hire" list, only expanded to include the specifics on the contracts and positive comments for diligent mercenary work?
