Well, if you haven't heard of us, I'm here to post a little introduction.

The Red Blades of Manderian, is a Mercenary clan and a role-playing one at that. We're going to be located in Europe with no wishes to move to NA when those servers go live.

Now as a merchants and crafters alliance, I don't need to talk to you about the importance of safety. But I am here to talk to you about the services we can provide for your organization and it's individual members like;

- Safety for your trading spots.
- Secure resource gathering
- Transport of your goods to the nearest bank

These things among a whole List of other possible mission types and specifics variations on those missions, is what we do and are going to be specialized in.

Now, we're not just available for clans and alliances or organizations, but for Solo players Also.

I talked with Jonkar quite some time ago. I really really wish you
guys were rolling on the US server. BoK's going to be good too but
having both of you would have been nice. I doubt it but I might
end up staying on EU after release merely because of RB.

Mercs are a crafter's best friend both as a customer and contractor
so I'm glad to see good representation starting from Merc's here.

A suggestion to any potential crafting clans and RB or BoK. If you
enter into an alliance keep it *very* quiet. I'd suggest a pure need
to know basis.

Sooner or later a clan will decide the mercs are a problem and
decide to go after them. A smart merc clan won't be affected; they
can defend themselves and are mobile. Any significant supplier
they have is, by nature, incapable of either mobility or defense.

Mercs are a crafter's best friend both as a customer and contractor
but I wouldn't advertise any relationships.

Hey,
if you mean by alliance a signed and commisioned contract then we're talking about the same thing, but RBoM doesn't do "Alliances" in the formal sense of the word, for the moment we only work through contracts.

That being said, we are open for contracts from every possible angle and commisioning us will naturally give you the benefits we provide.

And it's up to the client, how private a contract should be handled.

If we were afraid of people being pissed off at us, we shouldn't be mercs heck, we shouldn't even be thinking of playing a ffa, full loot pvp game.

Keeping it quiet is important but every manufactured item includes a makers mark (name of crafter). I don't know how hypothetical it'll become (DF promises to be somewhat unique) but eventually I can see some clan just deciding they hate RB or BoK. If they figure out all their gear comes primarily from one merchant group they might just go after them.

It's not a problem ... it adds interest, but something to bear in mind.

edit: I think the point was misunderstood but it's pretty OT anyway .. didn't intend to hijack your thread.

I really do think this to be quite a plausible scenario and tactic. If you can not directly attack an enemy, then you do things to weaken them. A bit of an underhanded trick, but very viable. It's something I have been considering.

Well if you're scared to sell goods to a clan, because of fear of retribution from said clan's enemies.

why bother at all? if you go to a certain city and set up shop, and sell individually to a lot of people of the same clan, without affiliation you'll get the same problem. you're always going to be making enemies there's no question about it. the difference lies in; will you lay your head down everytime someones mad at you or are you going to play in the spirit of full loot ffa politics and simply react to it without being scared about everyone who might get you in his target.

now to be honest, this isn't a discussion that should be held in a merc advertising thread.

I agree 100%, I really regret having brought that up. It was an idle thought and is entirely the crafters concern not the mercs.

I really didn't intend to derail RBoM's intro thread. I'm going to go back and edit my original ... and follow up posts.

Maybe in a day or so we can get them cleaned up and then delete this and re-rail this thread.
