One of the first things I think that should be done will probably be locating and mapping different types of resources, as well as NPC vendors and stones that can be used to set-up outposts and such. Which begs the questions, how we will share this info, and by what system will we locate things.
As far as I can tell from the videos there is no built in coordinate system so I was wondering which system people would like.
1. A standard x,y system of longitude and latitude, which has been kind of standard for most video games.
2. Polar coordinates- where you have 0 being the center of the map, and the location of an object is the degree, and the distance from center. I only mention this system since it seems to be the way the continent is naturally laid out.
3. Point of reference- This is the system that most people use in day to day life. Where you give positions based entirely on the positions of other objects. For example (about 20minutes west of Mercia) things like that.
I think point of reference will probably work the best since it will hard to grade the map properly for any numerical system to work well, but let me know what you guys think.

According to the minimap in this image, there appears to be coordinates. This image was uploaded two months ago, and the bottom corner of the image is also signed with a "2008" bit; so I would assume this is still a realistic piece of evidence that we will have coords. If not, it will be a pain - and I will withdraw my vote for coords and say that I would use points of reference also.

Provided they stay with that minimap setup, it appears as though coordinates will be the easiest way to relay locale information.
Personally, I prefer using reference points, but that method definitely leaves more room for error. If you want to be sure people will find the correct spot, coordinates are fairly flawless.
Just my 2 copper~

I compleatly dislike the cord system.. Unless there is gnomish high technology to supply my character with a GPS. Whenever i give dirrections to people it is always baised on the landscape.
For example to get to my favorite fishing hole from Azeroth it is very simple to get there. You fly to feralas on the western isle if you are alliance. Then you ride south towards the larger isle there, then you swim across the bay, continue on to the southern isle along the west coast hitting up any spawns pools you see. Once you are standing on the southern tip of the isle you cast out towards the SW for a few hours.
If you fish when the tides come in around dawn and sunset, midday, midnight you will catch a majority of Stonescale Eel with a few oily blackmouths and some firefin snappers as well as ALOT of winter squids.
Doesnt that sound better then go fish @ 10.000x23.094 loc?

Are the resource nodes or whatever we are going to call them static?
