I firstly wish to apologize to the very eloquent Si'aan Anoura who in the nature of crafterly friendship extended a welcoming hand to my guild and an open invite to come by and mingle...
Sometimes old crotchy dwarfs are too blunt and are none to genteel albeit of good intent. So please accept my apology for their brusqeness.
On to the matter at hand! Mr Recneps just what do you have stewing here hmm? I read the mandate and all the posts..Fascinating idea and a noble one..and possibly a profitable one
I was intrigued and thought I would offer some constructive input to help you guys perhaps. grain o salt < throws a pinch >
Crafters by nature love to socialize and compare notes and discover new things. Both Mr Isse-Istar and Mr Belthize make very valid points as to the direction they would like to see things unfold here. Possible to do both I think..its just a question of timing
There is also a specific mention in the mandate of a DNS list. These definately will come about due to the dangers all crafters will face in Darkfall. Bandits! < looks around warily > but...dont run before you can walk!
Some ideas :
1. Hash out that mandate/charter a little more so its a little more clear what your eventual goal is ( once you know )
2. Keep sending out ambassadors to create buzz. You need crafters to come and talk. shouldn't be hard
3. NEVER guild/ally or become part of the physical world of DF. Once you do that then your a threat. I liked Si'aan's term union or association is fine too. Neutrality is key. Like switzerland
4. Must remember that we wont all be on the same server so having a council here really is a moot point in regards to in game policy BUT that could come up upon release once all your members here declare their guilds servers.
5. Once servers are declared then split up the forum by server and have differant sections within each to address things...general, DNS lists etc.
6. So in a nutshell my suggestion is to go more Belthizes way at the moment and pull people in with very little organization here just for camaraderie and sharing of knowledge then later once servers are established have all the members on each server vote for a council. Purely for crafting regulations and concerns.
If you have server level ambitions for something like this patience will be key. Most of us will be building cities at the start and supporting our guilds
Thanks alot for making the site and I will definately be coming by! GL
