I've been reading through some of the other posts and I think its a good time for a thread for creating a clan. Anyone who wants to form one can respond and we can work out server and race. I'm thinking it will have to be a semi-nomadic ARAC clan to begin with. Eventually taking a city can be accomplished.

I think I read somewhere (not trying to shoot you down Doc!) that ARAC clans won't be able to hold cities - I have never planned on actually taking one myself so I haven't paid full attention to it, but I think that it correct?

I think the ARAC city ownership confusion stems from the fact that in the initial game design the clan city guards were of a predetermined race, by location, and would attack members of hostile races.
The devs compromised and changed it so that the guard towers will fire on people according to the owning clan's policies.
This makes ARAC clans possible but they'll still suffer from the obvious alignment drawbacks.

The only change we made to our original plans is that we took out the clan city NPC reaction to the owners of the city regardless of race. This means that NPC guards won't attack racial enemies if they belong to the clan, and NPC vendors will trade with them. It makes sense that it would work this way, but the main reason we did this is in the spirit of player freedom, and not wanting to overly restrict player socialization for reason of race. This is not a game with factions as seen in other games. You don't have races with limited interaction or limited ability to interact. You can have ARAC cities basically. Hope this is of help.
