The Darkfall Merchants Association has many uses but it was founded for a singular purpose.
To facilitate and aid in the trade of goods in the land of Agon. By working together, tradesmen are better able to improve their craft and supply those that need goods with what they seek.
Frequently asked questions:
Is the DMA a guild or clan? Absolutely not! We are a group of like minded merchants using the DMA as a tool to improve our trade. The DMA is a association, a group of friends, a meeting hall and a place to turn for help. Clans are not excluded and allegiance to them comes first in game, but inside these halls a fellow tradesman is afforded a appropriate amount of respect.
Who is allowed to be a DMA member? Anyone and everyone. Resource gatherers, crafters, merchants, guards. . . . Guilds and clans. All are needed from beginning to end in the chain of commerce and all can benefit from people they meet here. There are no restrictions by race or clan. Anyone acting like a mature responsible individual that wishes to contribute is free to join.
What about guilds? Clans are free to join in their entirety or just individual members. Politics are to be checked at the door.
How do I join? By registering for the forum you have just joined the DMA. That doesn't mean you get a fancy membership card or guild heraldry. It means you've walked into a roadside inn with a big sign outside that says
[glow=red,2,300]"TRADESMEN WELCOME!" [/glow]
Inside this Inn members can rub elbows with fellow tradesmen and improve their network. This can be as simple as wishing to find a group to unload farmed materials to or as large as a clan offering protection to DMA members. Clans can be formed (The DMA will even provide them with a back room for meetings) and contracts signed. Information can be exchanged freely (or not) and groups formed for various purposes.
Is there a more "official" membership option? No, The DMA is nothing more than a gathering place and social club. Clans need not fear a members participation in any way. It's actually to their benefit to have some of their members participate. There is no doubt that groups will form from within its walls geared to wards specific purposes but the Darkfall Merchants Association will be nothing more than the one pouring the drinks.
What are the rules? The association is not much in the way of a "official" entity so there are few official trappings to be observed. The loose structure allows associates to go about their business much as they wish. The rules that do exist are simple and lie entirely within the walls of this forum.
1. Treat fellow members with respect.
2. Leave all grudges and politics at the door.
3. Try at all times to reflect on the DMA in a respectable manner.
4. Do not hesitate to help a fellow member in need.
5. Do not be a ass-hat.
Of course we would like to see these extend into the world of Agon but enforcement is difficult and unlikely. We would ask however that members please make every attempt to observe the (DNS) "Do Not Sell" list once it is in place. It is understood that to do so at all times may be impossible but it is one of the most important things merchants have for protection. It won't be there to list every individual that murders you in the woods or roving band that loots your fallen corpse. But we would like it known that to grief, repeatedly gank, steal from and most importantly SCAM a member of the DMA is a ill advised idea. People may do so, but it will be at their peril.
