I'd been contemplating doing exactly this, setting up an external discussion area.
I've been pondering a Merchant House based clan structure that's designed to take and hold a hamlet/city.
About midway through I realized I really didn't want to exert the energy to actually start/run a clan of that size but I'd be happy to discuss it and if somebody takes it on I might even join it if it looks tenable.

My pleasure and thanks for joining.
I Admin a forum for a medical condition and figured it wouldn't take too long to put together a basic forum for this.
Of course there's alot of things that can be added and changed (Other categories, chat room, passworded boards etc.) but I'm going to wait and see how much interest it generates before I invest too much time into it.
Thanks again,

I agree totally. This is something good. I have taken a bit of a lead in this but I'm welcome to any and all help from others. This is my first time trying something like this.

Thanks for the invitation. I've already run my opinions and suggestions by doctorm119 through the Darkfall forums and X-Fire.
I'm open to the idea of a merchant-based guild and I could see the organization of resources and skills, ideally, bringing in a lot of profit. However, I'm not totally convinced that this idea is practical.
As of now, we know next to nothing of the in-game mechanics that will drive the economy. Based on this fact alone, it is impossible to tell if a centralized organization of crafters would even be feasible. The game may cater to guild-specific crafters or individual merchants. We simply don't know as of yet.
At the very least, I would like to see some sort of DNS (Do Not Sell) list appear. Formally or not, crafters will have to work together on some level.
I do eagerly await the examination of in-game mechanics to see if this is a possible endeavor. In light of this, I have put plans for a firm organization on hold. However, I am compiling a list of crafters with this similar cooperative mindset already - so that I will have the opportunity to mobilize our efforts if cooperation is actually beneficial in the game.
Let's hope that by combining our efforts, there will be hope of capitalistic domination.

However, I'm not totally convinced that this idea is practical. I'm more or less of the same mind. While I hope the crafting system and game mechanics are such that some type of crafters "group" is a useful possibility, there just isn't enough known yet about the game.
If nothing else I would like to see a blacklist (as you said) and some type of exchange for materials etc. I'm sure there will be a large number of other places that crafting mechanics and requirements will be able to be researched as well. I'm just hoping perhaps that this board will allow a group of like minded individuals to network.
I honestly don't have much interest in a "official" clan or guild per say. More of a allied group of people that can pool their resources in times of need or in the name of profit But I wouldn't be opposed to joining one if the idea coud be shown to be possible in a remotely succesful manner.

How folks!
I'm glad you set this up as well, by the looks of some of the polls (Some of which is clearly people blowng hot air) we will be at the bottom of the food chain in the beginning months.
It's a great idea that we communicate and make sure we protect one another, be it physically or simply sending the word out about people who seek to take advantage of us. Ether way, I'm glad to be a part of whatever comes out of it and look forward to getting to know y'all at some point.

My only current fear is that non clan crafters might have a hard time in DF. Hopefuly those of us that get up and running quickly will build a good customer base who will help protect us so we can provide them with better equipment. Those who we add to our own individual DNS lists will have a little harder time getting equipment unless they are from a clan. We shall see how things progress.

I think as well, if you are a solo crafter/merchant, then success will depend a lot on your individual diplomacy skills and reputation as to how well you do. But hopefully a forum such as this will help link people with greater communication. Lady S.
