Thought I'd start the first poll.
Should we make a group on the Darkfall Forums for our Merchant Alliance? If so, should we do it by invite only, should we publish a link to this site on there or wait for people to PM us about it? Or no, do you think we will get too many trolls/flamers if we openly advertise it?
What do you think?

I think we should openly advertise. We aren't selective in any way as of now. Any and all merchants and crafters are welcome to the site and hopefully it will become a meeting place for all crafters.

You have no fear of trolls/flamers overflowing from forumfail arriving here? That is the only reservation I have. I would like to advertise, am just a lil worried s'all. Edit: Removed this comment as it was now out-dated: "We don't even have an FAQ or charter (*nudges Recnep* ) on here yet."

Just to update on this ~ I have started a thread on Clan Discussion on Forumfall (as well as my Looking for Clan thread still) to try to stir some interest in a merchant union type of idea. I don't want to OPENLY advertise (actually, I can't work out how to make a group on forumfall anyway!) before exhausting a few other avenues first. I just feel we need to try to attract some more merchant types - whether individuals OR clans. If you're on forumfall much, and you see anyone who may be interested, send them a PM and tell them about us, give them the link, and lets make this Association worth the while of the other clans here. I'll keep doing what I can, when I can!

Group creation at DF is a rare and periodic event. The most recent was just before Christmas and was only open for 48 hours so it's not really an option now. Even if it were it goes against the purpose of DMA. Group membership at DF implies clan. As a member of FSoA I've spent more time explaining it's not a clan than I have answering questions from interested parties. Recneps has already suggested that putting a link to the site in sig's is perfectly acceptable. That plus PM's as you suggest are probably the best forms of advertising. I think a general post in CD or ADV is just asking for the nutjobs to come over rather than the people interested (particularly since Goon has arrived). The ones that see a post and hate crafter types will arrive just to grief and cause Recneps no end of trouble moderating. Ultimately it's his call whether he'd prefer folks did/didn't make 'go to DMA' type posts at forumfall. Thorsen Belthize edit: For example I just PM'd Melamoto who created this thread forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=101981. Hopefully he'll come over to discuss his ideas in Clan Discussion. Cherry picking ftw. I suspect the word will spread fairly quickly.

Firstly thanks to Belthize for the PM and hello all.
I think your current methods of pm's and word of mouth will be your best bet. I know exactly what sort of people are going to be playing DF and fully expect that being a crafter is going to potentially be hard work.
However a site like this should be a great help and the current way you are spreading the word means you only get people serious about crafting rather then those who still seem to be at primary school as is my impression from a lot of posts on the official forums.

Well until we get a few more opinions, I will continue spreading the word they way I have been. I've put another "Looking for clan" thread up on forumfail, asking purely for crafter/gatherer/merchants. We've got a few mercenaries here, lets get some more crafters eh? And on that note, everyone should feel welcome to invite those who they feel would appreciate what the DMA is trying to promote. Anyone who values commerce and greater capacity for crafting in-game would be welcomed with open arms!

Im new here.. but I say no. I found my way into this inn via word of mouth from my Kaghin, Ashindai as will others of my ther. If a group of recluse rangers and druids can find their way here.. anyone can sooner or later. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisment.

I'm new as well and had no trouble finding way here. I think those with sincere intentions and the minimum of intelligence & awareness will have no trouble getting here at all. I'd be very wary about advertising a group like this on ForumFall atm as it will just attract griefers, spies and the masses of hot flamers & fools that are bored and troll there. Would be a big shame to lose this fine idea in a wave of roasting and disinformation etc.

Other than the tag in my sigline (And I don't post much there) I've pretty much left it to word of mouth and private invites. Doing so tends to weed out a good portion of the problem members and focus primarily on those that seek what the DMA provides. As for the Ass-Hats that do manage to wander over. . . . . My pick axe doubles quite well as a banhammer. Recneps

Something simple like: URL="http://www.darkfallmerchant.proboards.com/index.cgi"]Darkfall Merchants: a forum for Crafters, Harvesters and Traders[/URL If you are I'll probably add it to mine. Thorsen Belthize ps: I left the leading/trailing [] off so this forum wouldn't parse it.

Yes, I do believe making a group for the DMA on forumfall will be beneficial to the Association once the ability to do so is reinstated.

I strongly believe the association should be involved in forumfall.
However like some previous posters have noted it is opening up to the flames and attacks.
