Any RP'ers - Darkfall Wiki worth a new look.

Greetings all,

This is a post aimed more at those who enjoy Role-playing or wish to delve into this hidden and secret art of fun

We've managed to get "Darkfall Wiki" to add special areas for anyone interested to create their own, special character pages with summary, background details, history etc etc.

Sorry for double post. Wanted to advertise the fact that I made two little articles on DF Wiki. Here is mine and here is my clans.

Oh goodness, I'm just terrible with working these things...

I signed up both as Ashindai and Ashka Da'Naffa, however, whenever I try to log in as Ashindai, it always end up logging me in as Ashka... did the two usernames somehow become connected?

Also, I created an Ashka Da'Naffa character page, however, when I look at the darkfall.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Character_Backgrounds character background list, I show up under the 'U' section as "User:Ashka Da'Naffa". Might there be any way to have this fixed?

Hey Ashka,

These things always cause me headaches too - perhaps one of our admins here at DMA can check or advise on the login here for you..

In regards to the DF Wiki - it's easy to change (basically adding a new page without the "User:" bit as the system sees that as part of the name I think)

Thought you might want to change it yourself - simple & quick instructions follow here otherwise I'm happy to copy and paste it into a new page for you

1. Start here - darkfall.wikia.com/wiki/Character_sheet
2. Copy the template content in the box i.e. {{RPCharacter.. etc etc.
3. In the "Create Character Sheet" box below the content you copied put in the name you want i.e. Ashka Da'Naffa (nothing else, just your wanted name)
4. Click on the "Create character sheet" !

That creates the page for you and will put it all in the right place hopefully and you have a page ready to edit..

5. Paste in the template content and do your thing.. adding all your great content

6. Preview and then save your page..

7. Saving quickly first after you've got very basic content could be useful to make sure ytou have the page setup and in the right place.. then go back and edit and add more stuff as you want?



Great to see people adding to this site and it growing.. it's going to be another great place for our community, let's hope.

Just let me know if you want me to set it up for you but thought it best you give it a go first if you wanted.

Edit: Please tell me how to do that I am taking a weeks break from flying around in EvE.. and need something to do while I copy some more cd's onto dvd's (they hold more tracks so less physical room) I tried to make a wiki for my D&D game but got hopelessly confused so havnt touched it in months. www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/larossia-hybrid-homebrewgame and ive forgotten how i did what i did in there so consider i know nothing at all about coding or whatever its called.

You can simply go into someone you like's format by choosing 'Edit' for their page and then copy the code you like and just paste it into your own page

Be careful you don't delete stuff by mistake etc. could be sad

If you want words to be links you can put [[the words here]] and if they are the exact same words as already are a page it'll link to that page.. if it's not a page (yet) but you want it to be a new page it creates it for you and you can get about building that page too.

Not sure I explained that well but hope it helps? Looking at how others are coding stuff (with 'edit' on their pages) is a great way to pic up some useful knowledge of the syntax (image links, italics and other formatting or headings etc.)

Indeed it worked good, copy paste then delete whats not relivant is soo much easer then learning ANOTHER language for Agon. I just copied yours celestine, then edited out the info relivant to you and will be updating relivant per wolvyn today. thank you both, any more questions will post it here.. was not aware that could actually edit, everything on the site.

Yes, it's a great form of generating collective content

You're free to edit and add content to any of the pages, anywhere and they hope we'll do that to improve and add to the general info. of the site

Hopefully they'll keep backups or have clever ways to stop nasty people fromn messing up any of the pages but I'm hoping for good things forn that site. All looking like a good start.

I'd imagine they would be like the rest of the larger wiki's: keep back-ups of almost any change and the ability to re-roll back to what the content was before.
